A workshop that targets to recognise the efforts made by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states to monitor and boost indicators of the participation of Gulf women in development will be held in Bahrain.
The two-day workshop “a project to design an indicator of Gulf women’s participation in development” on Wednesday and Thursday at the Supreme Council for Women premises will also concentrate on observing indicators and goals and targets of sustainable development 2030 regarding empowerment of women in the GCC countries.
Coordination and cooperation to make a consolidated strategy to create the indicators of GCC women’s participation in development and reaching an agreement regarding list of sub-indicators that will include measuring the Gulf index, and moving the Bahraini experience to the Gulf states will also be on the agenda of the workshop.
Bahrain is considered as an expert in women’s affairs that has set a National Observatory to monitor gender indicators and to show Bahraini women’s dedicated efforts and major achievements.
People who participate in the workshop organized by the GCC Statistical Center in cooperation with Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority will review the facts about the participation of Gulf women in development and best practices in observing and measuring indicators of women’s empowerment.
They will also discuss the methodology for creating indicators for Gulf women’s participation in development.
