Dubai’s Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) is to become the first 5G-powered smart district in the emirate. The announcement was made by Dubai-based mobile communications operator, Etisalat and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), on Sunday October 27.
“This will transform the JLT community to become the first 5G-powered smart district in the region, making it a more seamless, efficient and safe experience for its members, residents and visitors,” said Salvador Anglada, group chief business officer of Etisalat.
The venture is set to benefit more than 100,000 people living and working in the free zone. DMCC’s partnership with Etisalat Digital is as per the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the happiest city on earth.
Etisalat Digital introduce smart devices, services and platforms to drive efficiencies across public amenities, energy consumption, asset and building management. Etisalat Digital will also implement smart solutions related to parking, street lighting, air quality, noise pollution, environmental performance and traffic monitoring.
“Both entities will work together to empower the community, reduce the environmental footprint, provide smart solutions to improve infrastructure and transportation, and deliver efficient public utilities,” said Salvador Anglada, group chief business officer at Etisalat.
Hope more of Dubai’s popular regions will have the 5G network rolled out before the end of the year.
